Every Wednesday night during the school year, we  have various opportunities for kids, youth and adults to get together and recharge their spiritual batteries.  The first Wednesday night of each month will be a special time to invite your friends and neighbors for dinner (free for visitors) and a general interest speaker.  Every Wednesday night at 6:45 pm, our children's programs, youth group activities, and adult classes begin.  There is something for everyone-even a nursery. OUR SPECIAL NEEDS MINISTRIES

32 years ago, in 1974, a ministry to physically and/or mentally handicapped people began as a result of a series of training sessions hosted by First Church. As children of various ages, with an assortment of mental and physical limitations, came from surrounding communities bringing their different religious backgrounds, the Lord enabled staff members to learn what was needed. The only prerequisite was Love, and that he supplied in abundance. This wonderful work continues today!

• GOD'S SPECIAL CHILDREN is a class for these unique individuals. Our members ages range from 12 to adult with average attendance of around 20. We meet in the church's lower level, just to the side of the gym, during the normal Sunday school hour. The main purpose of our class is to present the Word of God to our members. Class starts with a singing, caring, and sharing time then moves into a Bible lesson that is taught at a level geared to our members understanding and comprehension. Special parties, craft projects, various social events and bowling are just some of our extended activities.
• GOD'S SPECIAL PARENTS class is an extension of our GSC class that offers a place of encouragement and teaching for the parents of our special children. It offers bible study, and prayerful as well as practical support.

OUR SPECIAL MINISTRIES AND OUTREACH

At First Church, our congregation has a broad range of age groups as well as needs. Many of our members are equipped to care for others in times of need, whether they are spiritual or physical in nature. These loving members of our church are available for this very necessary ministry. Below are descriptions of just some of those areas.

• CIRCLE OF PRAYER is a ministry dedicated to corporate prayer for the many needs and concerns of our church, its members and today's world. Truly, these "Prayer Warriors" understand that prayer is the key to heaven, but faith unlocks the door.
• R-U-O-K is First Church's ministry for those who live alone and have no one calling them on a daily basis. Someone from the church will call each day at a convenient, pre-set time, chat for a while and make sure all is well.
• CARING PARTNERS is for those who live alone (including couples) and don't have visitors or who are not able to get out to church due to physical or other problems. Someone from the church will correspond, call and if possible, visit occasionally.
• VISITATION & CARE TEAM are volunteers who assist our church staff in visiting those with special needs in their homes and extended care facilities. In addition, they provide practical assistance such as transportation to church or doctor's visits, meal preparation or food shopping for those in our Christian family needing this support.
