Our Music Ministries

Averell
Music is an important part of the life at First Church. If you live
nearby, you may have heard our chimes softly ringing at the noon and six
o'clock hours. Under the skillful leadership of Betty Averell, our Director
of Music Ministries, people of all ages have ample opportunity to minister
in music. In addition to our choirs, there are several independent singing
groups that bring a variety of musical styles to our worship services.
Contemporary Praise & Worship Team, barber shop quartet, chorales,
special guest musicians & vocalists, just to name a few, serve to enhance
the rich musical heritage of our beloved church.

THE SANCTUARY CHOIR regularly leads worship with music on Sunday
mornings at the 11 o'clock service and provide special concerts and musical
presentations at Christmas and Easter. They meet to rehearse from 8 to
9:30 pm on Thursday evenings from September to June. All who have a love
for singing praises to the Lord are welcome!

THE HANDBELL CHOIR is made up of men and women who enjoy making
a joyful noise unto the Lord. They meet to rehearse from 7 to 8 pm on Thursday
evenings from September to June and ring on Sunday mornings approximately
once a month, as well as special seasonal presentations.

THE PRAISE &WORSHIP TEAM is a group of people of various ages
with a common desire to praise and worship God through music and singing.
They meet once a week for rehearsal and lead music at our Contemporary
service.

CELEBRATION! is an all-woman's choir that provides a wonderful blend
of contemporary and traditional music with both CD and instrumental accompaniment.
Rehearsals are Monday evenings at 7 pm and they participate in our services
approximately once a month.
